The best websites for finding races, compared
Checked against each site's own pages, last on September 25, 2026
There is no single best race finder. Registration platforms, directories, review sites, marathon specialists and results archives each do a different job, and most runners end up using two or three. This page sets out what the sites people use actually do, in their own words, and where RaceRove fits.
RaceRove is a free US race finder and planner. It does not take registrations or sell placement in search, and where another site does more than RaceRove, the comparison says so.

Pair RaceRove with a training app
RaceRove has no training plans. These two do, and they work well after you have chosen a race.
How these were chosen, and what we disclose
These are sites that turn up when you search for races and that independent roundups of race finders list. Everything said about a site comes from its own pages, read on or before September 25, 2026. We do not rank them, and we say where a site does more than RaceRove.
RaceRove has a financial relationship with three of them: it is a RunSignup affiliate, and it has referral links for Runna and Endorphins. Each of those pages says so, and links that carry a referral or affiliate code are marked as sponsored.
Questions about finding races
- What is the best website to find races?
- It depends on the job. Registration platforms such as RunSignup and ACTIVE are where you enter a race. Directories such as Running in the USA, RunGuides and Find A Race list the most events. RaceRaves has finisher reviews, FindMyMarathon goes deep on marathon courses, and Athlinks holds your results. RaceRove is for choosing a US race and tracking the 50 states. Most runners use more than one.
- How do I find races near me?
- Search RaceRove by state or by distance from a city, then narrow by month, distance, terrain, field size and weather. The guide to finding races near you explains how to read a listing and what to confirm before you register.
- Which site should I use to register for a race?
- Whichever the race itself uses; it will say on the race's website. RaceRove does not take registrations, and its race pages link to the organizer's own sign-up page, which for many races is RunSignup.
