About the South Mountains Marathons
South Mountains Marathons is a trail race series in South Mountains State Park near Connelly Springs, NC, put on by Tanawha Adventures. Due to lingering Hurricane Helene trail damage, only the 12.9-mile half marathon (~2,600 ft gain, mixed double-track/singletrack trail and stairs) is offered for the upcoming Jan 9, 2027 edition; the marathon and 50K are paused until the backcountry sections reopen.
