Amicalola Falls Marathon and Half Marathon take place entirely within Amicalola Falls State Park in North Georgia, on trails that pass the 729-foot Amicalola Falls -- the tallest cascading waterfall in the state. The signature feature is the 605-step Appalachian Approach Trail staircase beside the falls, climbed once on the half and twice on the full marathon (two 13.1-mile loops).
