The tradeoff: after you finish, you'll need to either take a shuttle or ride the Metro back rather than simply walking to your room.

Rosslyn: close to the finish

Rosslyn is home to the Marine Corps War Memorial finish line and the Finish Festival that follows it, and a hotel here means you can walk from the finish chute back to your room rather than fighting the crowds for a shuttle or a Metro car. It's connected to the rest of the region by the Rosslyn Metro station on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines — a few stops from Crystal City and a quick ride into DC. For runners prioritizing a low-stress finish over start-morning convenience, this is generally the recommended side to book.

Other areas worth considering

• Pentagon City — adjacent to Crystal City, similarly Metro-connected, and often has more hotel inventory left when Crystal City and Rosslyn sell out.
• Georgetown or Foggy Bottom, DC — puts you closer to the monuments and the course's DC-side middle miles, at the cost of a longer, cross-river trip to the Arlington start and finish.
• National Harbor, MD — MCM's expo has historically been held at the Gaylord National Resort across the river in Maryland, with race-organized shuttles connecting it to Metro; a useful base if you're combining packet pickup with a longer stay, less so for race-morning logistics.

Booking and logistics tips

• Book as early as you can. Race-weekend inventory in Crystal City and Rosslyn sells out well ahead of the race, and prices climb the longer you wait.
• Confirm your hotel's shuttle and breakfast plans directly. Don't assume a shuttle exists or runs on the schedule you need — call the property, not just the booking site.
• Expect your usual walking route to change. Race-morning road closures can block the direct path from a hotel entrance to its nearest Metro station or shuttle stop, so check current instructions rather than relying on a map app.
• Plan the return trip, not just the arrival. A hotel that's an easy walk to the start can mean a long Metro ride back from the finish, and vice versa — decide which end of the day matters more to you.
